President Muhammadu Buhari has commented on the candidate he will support in Nigeria's 2023 presidential election, speaking in recent interview with Bloomberg news.
President Muhammadu Buhari declared that he'll support the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC).
LBroadcast reports that the APC candidate in the 2023 election is former Lagos governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
In the interview, when asked if he would support a presidential candidate, Buhari replied "yes".
“Yes, I will endorse the APC presidential candidate,” the Nigerian leader said. Tinubu became APC's presidential candidate after winning the party's primary election, which ended on June 8, 2022.
it was recalled that APC National Leader polled 1,271 votes,defeating 13 other aspirants, including a former Transport Minister,Rotimi Amaechi, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who received 316 and 235 votes respectively.
Tinubu's victory has given him a chance to challenge for predency in 2023, along with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Labor Party Peter Obi, NNPP's Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and other candidates from other parties.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) selected the date of the Presidential elections,to be on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
