Labour party reveals region Peter Obi will pick running mate from

The Labor Party (LP) has announced that its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will select candidates in accordance with federal principles.

The Chairman of the Labor Party, Barr. Julius Abure, spoke on Monday in Abuja,in commemoration of Democracy Day. He said that in the interests of fairness, equality and inclusiveness, the party will ensure that principles of a federal nature are applied in the election of a candidate for vice president.

The decision rests with presidential candidate Peter Obi, Abure said, saying the Nigerian Workers' Party would not jeopardize the diversity of the country's workforce and Labor Party membership. "I would like to say that this may be premature, and that the Constitution gives the presidential candidate the right to nominate a vice presidential candidate, but it would be good if the presidential candidate answered.

“However, I want to assure you that as a party that is reasonable; as a party that believes in equity and justice; as a party that believes in social justice and equal opportunity for all, a vice-presidential candidate that is widely accepted, with powerful credentials, is most likely going to come from the Northern region, there is no doubt about that.”
