The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, has claimed it will take less than two days to end the ongoing strike.
ASUU started its current strike on February 14, 2022. Since then, public universities have been closed, and teachers have continued to demand that their demands be met.
President Muhammadu Buhari earlier Tuesday gave Education Minister Adamu Adamu two weeks to resolve controversial issues related to the ASUU strike. In response to Buhari's order, Osodeke said the two-week ultimatum was "too long" and the union could end its strike in less than two days if the federal government honors its agreement with unions.
“Two weeks is too long. The issue of renegotiation has been completed by both sides, which means that one is gone.
“They should just come back to us and say ‘we have agreed, sign it’. That should not take two days,” Osodeke said
