"He Left Me!" – Married Woman Reveals Why She Hired Soldiers to Attack Her Ex-Lover

A 31-year-old married woman, Ruby Ujunwa Okafor, has explained to the police in Lagos why she collaborated with soldiers to attack her ex-lover, Nwaigwe Emmanuel Bright. She allegedly forced him to withdraw N1.5 million from his bank account and took his gold earrings valued at $300,000.

According to P.M.EXPRESS, Okafor, a mother of one, revealed that despite being married, she had continued her relationship with Emmanuel. However, he abruptly ended things without offering any compensation. She repeatedly asked him for compensation but was denied.

In response, Okafor allegedly enlisted the help of three soldiers to invade Emmanuel's home in the Ijegun area of Lagos. She was angry that he no longer wanted to continue their relationship and told her to leave because she was married with a child. Okafor insisted that Emmanuel pay her N2 million as compensation for ending the relationship. When he refused, she and the soldiers attacked him, forcing him to withdraw N1.5 million from his bank account and stealing two gold earrings worth $300,000. During the assault, she also threatened to return for an additional N500,000.

The victim reported the incident to the Isheri Oshun Police Division, leading to Okafor's arrest and detention. During questioning, she admitted to the crime, explaining that she sought compensation after Emmanuel ended their relationship.

Okafor was charged in the Ejigbo Magistrate Court with conspiracy, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and theft. The charges state that she, along with three accomplices, stole N1.5 million from Emmanuel's bank account and took his gold earrings. Okafor pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, requested a hearing date to allow the police to present evidence. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted Okafor bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties. The matter was adjourned until February 19, 2025, for further proceedings, and Okafor was remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfillment of her bail conditions.
